Meet Molly!
Molly Buck is a mom, teacher, and colon cancer survivor who represents House District 41 (North Ankeny) in the Iowa House. Molly never thought she'd get into politics, but was inspired to run because she knew our students and teachers needed a voice in our state legislature. Now, Molly's running for re-election to fight for Iowa's public schools, put Ankeny's working families first, and protect reproductive freedom for all.
She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor’s in Education and received her Masters degree in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development from Drake University in 2016. Molly has taught in the Ankeny Community School District for the last twenty years and currently teaches the fourth grade at Heritage Elementary. In 2017, Molly fought on the front lines with her fellow teachers and ISEA union members against Republican bills underfunding education and gutting collective bargaining rights for teachers.
In the statehouse, Molly serves on the Economic Growth and Technology, Education, Environmental Protection, and Labor and Workforce committees as well as the Education Appropriations subcommittee and College Student Aid Commission. As one of the only active classroom teachers in the legislature, Molly is a fierce advocate for our students and teachers and she continues to give classroom instruction during the legislative session.
Molly and her family currently reside in Ankeny and have lived in the district for over seventeen years. She and her husband, Dan, share two daughters and two step-sons. When she's not teaching Ankeny kids in the classroom or fighting for Ankeny families at the statehouse, you can find Molly chasing after her rescue kittens or motorcycle-riding with Dan.
